The order, explained plainly
Identical questions for every property, answered in words rather than numbers.
Rule one: the stay is the subject
We weigh what a guest lives through from arrival to departure: the location, the building, the comfort of the rooms and the places within walking distance. The gaming area is listed like a gym or a car park and cannot push a hotel up or down.
Rule two: prose instead of points
There are no points, stars or aggregated reviews on Hampions Hotels. A position reflects an editorial judgement, and the reasoning is written out in prose.
Rule three: positions are not for sale
No hotel, brand or agency can buy a place on the list or a higher one. Our outgoing links carry no affiliate codes, commissions or booking tools.
The checklist behind each review
| Area | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Location | Would the destination be worth visiting anyway, and how much of it opens up on foot, by train or by ferry? |
| Architecture | Does the design, history or setting give the building a personality that stays with you? |
| Rooms | Space, daylight, the view, and whether standards differ noticeably between towers or wings. |
| Beyond the room | Pools, spas, restaurants, gardens, theatres and outdoor pursuits that justify the trip without the casino. |
| Who it suits | The traveller most likely to be happy there, summed up in each "Best for" line. |
Update rhythm
The list gets a scheduled re-read, plus an extra pass whenever a hotel announces a rebrand, a refurbishment or a closure. The date badge beside the ranking heading marks the latest review of the details.
