Top 10 Casino Hotels worth ringing the bell for

Each property below has a gaming hall tucked somewhere inside, yet the hall had zero say in where it landed. We placed them by the things a guest carries home: the arrival, the room, the light at breakfast and the neighbourhood after dark. Tap any row to read the whole review.

NeighbourThe Sky Tower

A night at SkyCity Grand Hotel

The Grand is the dressier of the hotels inside Auckland's SkyCity complex, and its entrance sits on Federal Street, a lane given over to restaurants and bars. Overhead rises the Sky Tower, a 328-metre spire that anchors the city skyline from almost every angle. Rooms favour quiet tones and broad glass, and asking for a high floor improves the odds of a sweeping outlook across the Waitemata Harbour or toward the green volcanic cones scattered across the isthmus.

The tower's observation decks are a lift ride from the lobby, and braver guests can book the SkyWalk around its outer rim or the controlled SkyJump. Downhill, Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Quarter fill with waterfront cafés, while the downtown ferry terminal sends boats to Devonport and the vineyards of Waiheke Island. Britomart station handles trains to the suburbs. Because so much is reachable on foot, a car mostly stays parked here, and the gaming rooms sit well apart from the hotel lifts.

Best forA first Auckland stay where harbour walks, island ferries and a tower view all start at the door.

  • Lazy river inside the Grand Pool Complex
  • KÀ by Cirque du Soleil plays on site
  • Las Vegas Monorail stops at the resort
Night outKÀ by Cirque du Soleil

A night at MGM Grand Las Vegas

Few buildings on the Strip are as recognisable as the MGM Grand, whose emerald glass towers and bronze lion mark the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. Its room count runs into the thousands, so the most useful decision is which part you sleep in: the main towers cover everything from compact rooms to large suites, while The Signature, a trio of all-suite towers set behind the resort, has no casino of its own and feels noticeably calmer.

Summer afternoons revolve around the Grand Pool Complex, where a lazy river loops between several pools and rows of cabanas. Evenings bring KÀ, the Cirque du Soleil production staged in its own theatre, and the MGM Grand Garden Arena hosts concerts and touring spectacles. A Las Vegas Monorail station at the back of the property carries riders north along the Strip without traffic, which helps on a hot day. Allow extra minutes for the long corridors between lifts and exits.

Best forGroups who want one big address with a river pool, a headline show and a monorail ride north.
#3Peninsula old-town base 🏮

Wynn Macau

Gilded towers a stroll away from Macau's old quarter

Macau Peninsula, Macau
  • Pool
  • Spa
  • Dining
  • Shopping
  • Performance Lake fountain show at the entrance
  • Rotunda shows: Tree of Prosperity, Dragon of Fortune
  • Senado Square reachable on foot
Front lawnThe Performance Lake

A night at Wynn Macau

Wynn Macau stands on the peninsula rather than on Cotai, and that choice of address shapes the whole stay. Its curved, gold-toned towers face a lake where fountains rise and sway to music through the evening, a free performance most passers-by stop to watch. Inside, the rotunda stages two more short spectacles, a golden Tree of Prosperity and a Dragon of Fortune, before guests head up to rooms finished with rich fabrics and wide bay windows.

Old Macau is the reward for staying here. Senado Square, with its wave-patterned Portuguese paving, lies within walking distance, and the lanes beyond climb toward the stone facade of the Ruins of St. Paul's and the cannons of Monte Fort. Egg tarts and almond biscuits are sold from bakeries along the way. A linked tower, Encore, offers a more intimate set of suites under the same management. The casino occupies the lower levels and is easy to bypass.

Best forVisitors who want Macau's colonial lanes and street food rather than the newer Cotai skyline.
#4Mountain snow escape ❄️

High1 Resort (Kangwon Land)

Snowy slopes and hotels in Gangwon's former coal valleys

Jeongseon, South Korea
  • Ski
  • Hiking
  • Views
  • Dining
  • Ski runs and gondola lifts on the resort's mountain
  • Created to revive a former coal-mining district
  • Summer trails along pine-covered ridges
Winter drawSlopes on the doorstep

A night at High1 Resort (Kangwon Land)

High1 grew out of a regional rescue plan: when the coal mines around Gohan and Sabuk closed, the state-backed Kangwon Land company built a resort in the surrounding Taebaek Mountains to bring work back to the valleys. Today several hotels and condominium blocks are spread across the slopes, and their rooms trade city bustle for pine ridges, clear air and, in winter, snow piled along the balconies. It feels far more like a mountain retreat than a casino destination.

From December into early spring the ski area takes over, with groomed runs, gondola lifts and rental shops within reach of the lodgings. When the snow melts the same hillsides become walking trails with wide views over folded ridgelines. Regional trains on the Taebaek line stop at nearby Gohan, and the drive from Seoul takes about three hours. The resort's casino is notable as the only one in the country open to South Korean citizens, though plenty of guests never go near it.

Best forA Korean ski or hiking break with resort comfort and real mountain scenery.
#5Red River prairie 🌾

Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant

A Choctaw Nation resort with towers, pools and a games district

Durant, Oklahoma
  • Pool
  • Shows

  • Lake
  • Owned by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma
  • The District: bowling lanes and an arcade
  • Lake Texoma within a short drive
Day tripLake Texoma's shoreline

A night at Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant

Durant is the capital of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and the tribe's flagship resort rises at the edge of town, a short drive north of the Red River and the Texas border. Hotel rooms are split between towers of different ages, and the newest Grand Tower is the one to request for crisp, contemporary interiors and the widest views over the open prairie. Many guests come up by car from the Dallas area for a weekend, which keeps Friday arrivals busy.

A large outdoor pool area with cabanas sets the pace on summer days, and the Grand Theater books touring musicians and comedians. The District, an entertainment hall within the resort, adds bowling lanes, an arcade and casual places to eat, which makes the property easier for mixed groups. Lake Texoma, one of the largest reservoirs in the region, lies a short drive west with marinas, beaches and walking trails. The gaming floor is vast but signposted separately from the hotel lobbies.

Best forA drive-in weekend from North Texas mixing a pool, a concert and an afternoon at Lake Texoma.
#6Indian Ocean ridge 🌊

Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom

Zulu-inspired architecture on a ridge above the KwaZulu-Natal coast

Durban, South Africa
  • Views
  • Shows
  • Dining
  • Beach
  • Design inspired by Zulu cultural heritage
  • Operated by Sun International
  • Short hop to Umhlanga and King Shaka Airport
Live venueThe iZulu Theatre

A night at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom

Sibaya occupies a green ridge on the coast north of Durban, between Umhlanga and the village of uMdloti, and its thatched rooflines, carved timber and beadwork motifs draw on Zulu heritage rather than Las Vegas glitz. Sun International runs the complex, which includes a small lodge for overnight guests. Its rooms are designed for quiet: soft natural materials, private terraces and, from the better positions, glimpses of the Indian Ocean through coastal bush.

The iZulu Theatre presents musicals, comedy and concerts, and the restaurants cover everything from grills to curries, a nod to Durban's strong Indian culinary tradition. The sand and promenade at Umhlanga are a few minutes south by car, with warm water for much of the year and a lighthouse worth photographing at sunrise. King Shaka International Airport is close, which suits short stays. The casino is the centrepiece of the complex, but the lodge stands apart with its own entrance.

Best forA KwaZulu-Natal coast break with warm-water beaches nearby and a calm lodge to return to.
#7Upstate woodland break 🍁

Resorts World Catskills

A sleek tower hotel set among the Sullivan County woods

Monticello, New York

  • Hiking
  • Opened in 2018 in Sullivan County
  • Close to Bethel Woods, the 1969 Woodstock site
  • Kartrite indoor waterpark resort nearby
Nearby landmarkBethel Woods

A night at Resorts World Catskills

Resorts World Catskills opened in 2018 near Monticello, bringing a glossy modern tower to a corner of upstate New York better known for old summer colonies and forest roads. Rooms are clean-lined and comfortable, with large windows that look out over wooded hills, especially vivid when the leaves turn in October. Manhattan is roughly two hours away by car, close enough for a Friday escape yet far enough for the pace of the city to fade.

Inside there is an indoor pool, a spa and a theatre for evening performances. The wider development also contains the Kartrite, a separate resort built around a large indoor waterpark, which can keep children busy on a wet day. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, on the field where the 1969 Woodstock festival took place, is a short drive west and has a museum on the era. Rail trails, lakes and the Delaware River fill the remaining days.

Best forNew Yorkers after a quick autumn escape with forest drives and a festival-history detour.
#8South Strip sand 🏝️

Mandalay Bay

Golden towers wrapped around a sand beach and wave pool

  • Pool
  • Shows
  • Dining
  • Mandalay Bay Beach with wave pool and real sand
  • Shark Reef Aquarium inside the resort
  • Free tram to Luxor and Excalibur
Pool dayA sand beach in the desert

A night at Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay closes off the southern end of the Strip, its gold-tinted glass towers catching the light long after the sun has dipped behind the mountains. Its position gives it a slightly removed, resort-like mood compared with the crowded centre, and rooms tend to be generous in size. The same building hides the Four Seasons Las Vegas on its own upper floors, reached by a private entrance, which shows how varied the room choices here can be.

The headline is Mandalay Bay Beach, a stretch of imported sand around a wave pool, joined by a lazy river and further pools across several acres. Shark Reef Aquarium lets visitors walk through a glass tunnel beneath sharks, rays and sea turtles, and the Michelob Ultra Arena brings large concerts. A free tram links the resort to Luxor and Excalibur, making the walk toward the middle of the Strip far shorter. The gaming floor lies between the lobby and the pools.

Best forPool-first Las Vegas trips, families visiting the aquarium, and anyone happy to sit away from the centre.
#9Garden terrace downtown 🌲

JW Marriott Parq Vancouver

A downtown hotel with a planted park lifted above the streets

  • Opened in 2017 inside the Parq complex
  • Shares the development with The DOUGLAS hotel
  • Landscaped park on an upper terrace
Step outside toA garden above the street

A night at JW Marriott Parq Vancouver

Parq Vancouver opened in 2017 on the southern edge of downtown and houses two hotels: the JW Marriott, the larger and more classic of the pair, and The DOUGLAS, a smaller design-led sister. Between them sits an unusual feature for a city-centre building, a landscaped park raised several storeys above the streets, with lawns, trees and paths where guests take morning coffee. Rooms in the JW tower look out toward False Creek, the North Shore mountains or the downtown grid.

A spa and a range of restaurants are tucked inside, but much of the appeal lies beyond the doors. The seawall around False Creek is a short walk away for running or cycling, and Yaletown, Chinatown and Gastown are each reachable on foot. A SkyTrain station a few blocks away connects to the airport line. Granville Island's public market is a quick hop across the water on the little Aquabus ferries. The casino sits on separate floors from the hotel lobby.

Best forCity breaks in Vancouver where a seawall stroll and a garden breakfast matter more than nightlife.

Newport World Resorts

A walkable cluster of branded hotels facing Manila's main terminal

Pasay, Metro Manila

  • Shopping
  • Dining
  • Pool
  • Known as Resorts World Manila until 2023
  • Hilton, Sheraton and Marriott on one campus
  • Facing NAIA Terminal 3 across the road
Live stageNewport Performing Arts Theater

A night at Newport World Resorts

Newport World Resorts was called Resorts World Manila until its 2023 rebrand, and it occupies a compact campus directly across from Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Rather than one hotel, it brings together several, including Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Hotel Okura and more budget-friendly names, so travellers can pick a room by price and taste while sharing the same facilities. Covered walkways link the towers, which matters in Manila's rainy season.

Newport Performing Arts Theater stages musicals and concerts, and the adjoining mall has cinemas, shops and a long list of restaurants, from Filipino comfort food to Japanese counters. Pools are found in the individual hotels, a welcome break from the tropical heat. For travellers with a dawn flight or a long layover, the short crossing to the terminal saves a slow drive through Metro Manila traffic. The gaming areas sit within the mall complex and are easy to steer around.

Best forArrivals, layovers and early departures in Manila when traffic would otherwise eat the day.

How this page earns your trust

A hotel guide first

We treat the casino as one room among dozens and look past it. What fills our notes is the welcome at the door, the size and quiet of the bedroom, the outlook from the window, the breakfast table and how far you can wander before needing a taxi.

A short "Best for" line closes each review so you can tell in seconds whether the place fits the journey you are planning.

Not one sponsored line

Resorts, hotel groups, tourist boards and marketing agencies have no way to pay for a slot, a promotion up the order or kinder adjectives. The outgoing links point to official hotel pages only, with no referral codes, booking widgets or ad tracking attached.

Owing nothing to anyone lets us mention the weak spots plainly, whether that means long lift queues or a pool that fills by ten.

Call ahead, then pack

Room categories get renamed, wings shut for refurbishment and fees creep in. Use these reviews to narrow the field, then confirm with the hotel which building you will sleep in, whether any works coincide with your stay, and what the deposit and cancellation terms are.

Festival weekends and holiday periods sell out far ahead, so flexibility on dates often buys a better room than a higher budget does.

Keep play small and planned

Every gaming floor is restricted to adults, and the minimum age differs between destinations. Anyone who decides to play should treat the amount as an entertainment cost fixed in advance, leave the cards in the room safe and stop the moment that sum is gone. None of these hotels needs a bet to make the trip worthwhile.

If gambling has started to feel heavy rather than fun, confidential help costs nothing; our Responsible Gaming page lists where to turn.
